"One last glance" WIP & other news by Debbie Flood

I guess it is time to update you all on where I’ve been! One word: Studio! This is the newest watercolor I have been working on all week. This is “One last glance” 17 x 21 inches. I’m really lovin’ the glow that is going on in this painting. I’m hoping that this will be done by the end of September to submit with the “Big sky dreams” watercolor that I recently (almost) finished. I just have an area of detail that needs to be worked on in that one.

I’ve added another set of child a day paintings to my blog for the 2 for 1 sale. “Her painted pony” and “Her favorite horse” are being offered. Here is the link for those: http://debbieflood.blogspot.com/p/child-day-watercolors-2-for-1-sale.html

I’m not sure if I updated you on this other news: My profile was approved to be in the Directory of Artists on the Southwest Art Magazine’s Website. That’s a bit of fun news. http://www.southwestart.com/artists/artist_spotlight/3412

I received news that “Grumpy draft” and “Lift off” both watercolors, have been accepted into the Draft Horse Classic, Art at the Classic, Grass Valley CA. That exhibit takes place Sept. 23, 24, 25, 26, 2010

The 19th Annual Breckenridge Fine Art’s Exhibit opens tomorrow, Saturday August 28, 2010 with a reception from 6-8:30pm. My Watercolor “Back in the saddle” is in this exhibit. Breckenridge, Texas. Their website is http://www.breckenridgefineart.org I’m under the impression that the exhibit will be online on their website too, but don’t hold me to that.

I also have a work in the “Down East sails up town” exhibit in Bangor, Maine, hosted by the byDesign Gallery, Bangor, Maine. Works from more than 200 artists are in 10 different venues in the downtown area. I haven’t been given a list yet as to which building my painting is in. The watercolor painting “If walls could speak, Fort Knox” is in this exhibit.

I also have a watercolor of Common Eiders at the Project Puffin Center on Main Street, Rockland, Maine for their Summer Seabird Art show and sale to benefit the Puffins off the coast of Maine. That exhibit runs until October 2010.

Saturday August 28, 2010 is the last day of the Union State Fair, Union Maine. I have six paintings in this venue and will be picking those up this weekend.

Thank you for reading my posts and following along on my artistic journey. It is becoming a very fun journey, and I am enjoying sharing it with you. You may also pass the news along and my blog to family and friends if you wish. Thanks!

Have a great weekend!

Progress on ‘Secrets’ Watercolor for the Straw Hat Series by Debbie Flood

Here is an update on the watercolor painting, Secrets. I’ve put in a blue wash in the background. I’ll be cleaning that background up more also. I found a few drips after I had put it aside to dry.

I had a fun weekend. Bar-B-Que on Saturday. Then on Sunday I went to a horse show. I got a load of images to work from at the horse show. A couple more for the straw hat series and some fun images of cowboys and cowgirls. I can’t wait to get working on the images I got! I have so many images though, and so many ideas. I guess I’ll have enough to keep me busy this Winter!

This coming Saturday I’ll be dropping off my If walls could speak, Fort Knox watercolor painting, to the byDesign Gallery in Bangor, Maine. I’m looking forward to this exhibit. The Exhibit title is ‘Down East sails up town’.

Remember me putting in a plug for my Zebra’s new day oil painting on the BoldBrush competition? I picked up the People’s Choice for the July competition! I want to thank everyone who voted and passed along the link! Pretty darn cool!

I also started another painting today. I’ll be posting that on my Blog real soon http://debbieflood.blogspot.com That one is titled Country pride.

Have a great start to your week! Talk again soon,

Debbie

‘Secrets’ watercolor update on WIP and a Gallery exhibit by Debbie Flood

Here is an update on ‘Secrets’, a watercolor painting for the straw hat series. I’ve been laying in heavy color to get that hot day feeling. This image is 11 x 14 in size.

I don’t think I have shared the news, that when I was at the downtown Waterville Maine art festival with my booth, I made a Gallery contact. The byDesign Gallery in Bangor, Maine invited me to be a part of his Gallery exhibits. I have been put on the roster of artists on his website and I’ll be exhibiting a work in his latest exhibit “Down East sails up town”. The exhibit runs August 21 through October 2, 2010. If you would like to check out the website then follow this link: http://www.bydesignartgallery.com The Gallery is located at 20 Harlow Street, Bangor Maine. It is in the downtown district.I’m looking forward to this exhibit and many more with byDesign Gallery.

More progress on the Grumpy Draft’s tangled mane

Here’s my progress on the mane of the Grumpy Draft Horse. I had to stop for a bit today. I actually have a little more completed than what shows here, as I took a photo during work. I also darkend the field with more rich colors.
I’ll be going to the Tray Chic Dinner and Auction tonight. My mustang themed table will be up for auction to benifit the Maine Discovery Museum in Bangor Maine

Here is the table that I painted. They are also auctioning off a blank table, and the winner gets a pet portrait painted on it by me. Should be a fun night!
